Our Objective
What
Our aim is to develop a trusted platform and a network that enables donors to easily find and help the most vulnerable members of our community.
Why
Our research showed that there are no online platforms in Sri Lanka that lists care homes and schools that need help. This makes it harder for donors to find those who are really in need.
How
We plan to solve this problem by:
- Developing the Celebrate online platform (celebrate.lk) that lists all registered orphanages and elderly homes in Sri Lanka, so that people can easily find places that they can support;
- Establishing key partnerships to identify, validate and list registered orphanages and elderly homes in Sri Lanka;
- Extending the platform to list schools and hospitals that require support; and
- Eventually growing the Celebrate platform to include the ability to create events so that people can celebrate occasions by supporting those who are in need.
History
The idea of creating the Celebrate.lk platform was born, when our Founder was searching for rural orphanages and elderly homes in Sri Lanka, that really needed some help, so that he can celebrate his son’s first birthday by sponsoring meals for a few orphanages and elderly homes, rather than hosting a birthday party. He soon realised that only a handful of such organisations have an online presence and others can only be found through word of mouth, which makes it harder to find those that may need help.
To solve this issue, in 2021, celebrate.lk was founded with the aim to locate, validate and list all of the care homes and schools in Sri Lanka that need resources and help. So that those who want to donate/support can easily find those who are in need and celebrate occasions by making a real difference and #celebratewithapurpose
We are working with everyone (including local Government institutions) to locate and list all the care homes and schools in Sri Lanka that need resources and help.
